EVERYDAY WHEN I WAKE UP
SORROW IS MY FRIEND
AND EVERYWHERE
I LOOK I SEE
PEOPLE WHO PRETEND
Whale Meat Again
is the
second studio album
by the British
musician
released by
Island Records
in 1974.
Like his first
solo album,
it failed commercially
in his native
United Kingdom
but did better in
the United States.
With help from the
opening track,
"It's All Right",
which spent seven weeks
in the Billboard
Hot 100
and peaked at
number 55,
the album reached
number 191
in the Billboard 200.
Reception
AllMusic's
retrospective
review commented that
the album was
more focused on
mood than
Capaldi's debut,
with longer songs
built on soulful grooves
"giving this album a funkier,
open feel that
lingers longer
than the songs."
In a review for
the 2012 reissue
of the album,
Terry Stauntman
of the British magazine
Classic Rock
remarked how this album
"represents a further
moving away from
Traffic's sound
and Capaldi
marking out his
own territory
more forcefully".
