EVERYTHING'S ALRIGHT
I'M GOING OUT TONIGHT
was formed when
acclaimed session guitarist
Ray Russell
teamed up with
drummer
Alan Rushton,
keyboardist/bassist
Jeff Watts,
and vocalist
Alan Greed.
The band recorded
their sole album,
Lady Killer,
at Nova Studios
in London
and released it on
EMI's progressive subsidiary,
Sovereign
It's a
brilliant and varied
guitar-orientated
post-psych album
with great sound
and wonderful
musicianship.
It's packed with
spacey jams
and delicious
production touches
that continually lifts it above
the mundane
rock albums of the period.
Especially notable is
"Ashen Besher"
which kicks off with
a bit of
proto-sludge metal,
and
"East of the Sun",
a trippy orchestral piece
with a sublime ending.
The strange cover
only adds to the allure.
Recommended!
