This complete concert
runs nearly
4 hours,
and started at the
stroke of midnight
(so it's technically on 1/1/1973).
The Sons of Champlin
and New Riders
opened this
NYE show.
The Dead
toured extensively
that year,
and had completed their
Europe '72 tour
in the Spring,
for the live album
of the same name.
Ron "Pigpen" McKernan
played his last concert
with the band on
6/17/72
at the
Hollywood Bowl
